According to MacRumors, the new iPad model will still provide more overall 5G coverage than other cellular iPad Pro models. However, mmWave 5G support is currently only limited to the new iPhone 13 models, the entire iPhone 12 lineup, and the 11-inch and 12.9-inch cellular iPad Pro models. The main difference between the sixth-generation iPad mini’s 5G compatibility and mmWave 5G support is that it has faster speeds at shorter distances, making it ideal for more crowded and urban settings. MacRumors notes that support for mmWave 5G is currently only available to iPhone and iPad models in the U.S. Despite no mmWave 5G, the new iPad mini will still be super fast, with download speeds up to 3.5GB per second. Apple claims it will provide up to a 40% jump in CPU performance and up to an 80% jump in GPU output. In addition, during its event on Tuesday, Apple said that the device’s neural engine performance would be up to two times faster than the previous generation. The new model has also been completely redesigned both inside and out, with a larger 8.3-inch liquid retina display and a thinner frame. The cameras also have been upgraded on the new iPad mini, with a 12MP back camera with True Tone flash that can record in 4K and a 12MP ultra-wide front camera that supports the popular Center Stage feature.
