iPhone Won’t Connect to Computer
In descending order of seriousness and complexity, here are the things you should try if your PC or Mac isn’t recognizing your iPhone when you connect it using a Lightning-to-USB cable.
When All Else Fails…
Consider restoring your iPhone to its factory settings. If your iPhone still won’t connect to your computer after having tried all of the above, you should consider performing a factory reset. This is a drastic option, but it does sometimes work. This will wipe all the data from your device, so do consider it as a last option. There’s also a possibility that, for whatever reason, you may have previously tapped “Don’t Trust,” which would prevent your iPhone from connecting to your computer. In this case, you need to reset your iPhone’s “Location & Privacy” settings, by doing the following: Doing this will give you the chance to trust your computer all over again when connecting to it via a USB cable. In most cases, you would have downloaded iTunes from the Microsoft Store, which means that you need to follow the steps below: After updating, you should disconnect your iPhone and then reconnect. Hopefully, your PC will recognize it. But if you happen to have downloaded iTunes from Apple (i.e. from Apple’s website), you will need to take a slightly different route in updating your drivers, as described below: After installing, you should disconnect your iPhone, restart your PC, and then connect your iPhone again.
